I should have posted about this a while ago (like, several weeks), but as is my wont I got in one of those hermity non-posting moods for a few months. Until I figure out what to do (get new wiki software, for one) the wiki will be down. Apparently someone was doing SQL injection attacks through the software (at least that's my best guess), because Pair Networks sent me three notices that they'd shut the database running the wiki down, for increasingly longer times. The last time it was shut down for good. I still have access to the data, so I'll get a backup of that database and figure out what to do from there. Ideally I'd like to get new wiki software where I'll be able to import the data without a lot of work. No idea what that will be, but as I'm between jobs still I should have time to do it (should Fable 2 and Fallout 3 not get in the way).

Re: The Wykkiade (better known as "the wiki")
At least now I get a break from updating the Politics 'n' Prog entry that lunchstealer abandoned.

As the Original Compiler of the Sacred Gospels of Dan T., I hope those lost works are soon brought back. I spent, like, an entire half-hour compiling them!
And how can our new members learn the True Way without it?
Re: The Wykkiade (better known as "the wiki")
If they can't be, I'm sure some archeologist in the far distant future will run across them someday buried in some computer storage system backup file and become famous publishing them as the Dead C-Drive Scrolls.

Thanks Andrew. I had good intentions, but then my Fridays got hectic.
Also I'd kinda 'sumed that nobody was reading it. Apparently at least two of us were.

Oooh, we have a date for the other spambot!
This is a personal problem. There are very few personal problems that cannot be solved through a suitable use of high explosives. This is not one of those exceptions.

The name makes me imagine conjoined twins born eight years apart.
This is not a signature.
Re: The Wykkiade (better known as "the wiki")
It's like the spambots aren't even trying anymore. When my blog gets spammed, they at least PRETEND to be real humans: "Julia" posts "I like your site great article!" on four different threads, while "Raoul" adds "That's brilliant I'm going to send this to some people I know." Quite different from "Carhc385" saying "Buy Viagra HERE no prescription."
Re: The Wykkiade (better known as "the wiki")
Foreign spambots come to this country and take jobs from American spambots, but are too lazy -- and not fluent enough in English -- to even do the jobs decently.

Re: The Wykkiade (better known as "the wiki")
Worse yet, they work for a fraction of the bandwidth of native spambots (written by American programmers with their First World, memory-is-no-constraint attitudes) and then they multiply, creating little anchor spambots everywhere!
I say America needs to build some sort of virtual wall to keep these furriner spambots out and protect our (white) women and children before it's too late!

Re: The Wykkiade (better known as "the wiki")
See, this is what happens when the government interferes with hard-working American spammers. The most successful spammers get driven out of business and get replaced by rent-seekers who aren't nearly as good at their jobs, costing the nation's spam consumers millions of dollars in lost quality of spam.
Re: The Wykkiade (better known as "the wiki")
Hey, these bots are just here to do jobs Americans won't do. And studies show that the spambots speak English by the second generation.
And, hey,
Latinaspambot women! Ay chi!Someday if Jennifer serves on a jury, I would like to see her rise up in the middle of the trial and yell, "No, you're out of water! And you're out of water! They're out of water! This whole trial is out of water!". - Stevo Darkly-
