The familiar deep-voiced guy who does the dramatic voice-over narration for just about every movie made over the past several years ... has passed away.

Who can step into his laryngual shoes?

I can almost see William Shatner doing the voiceover for some trailers -- for more lighthearted movies, maybe Indiana Jones/Arnold Schwarzenegger-type action movies. Especially if he plays it as straight as he can. But he has too much campy connotation for anything heavy.
We need another deep-voiced actor guy who can do also dramatic but without going full Shatner.
Orson Welles would be perfect if he wasn't dead.

Bet they'll probably just pay his estate and use voice software to mimic him. I bet it winds up being both cheaper and has less margin of error than replacing him would.

Oooh, LIT -- James Earl Jones would be perfect for this stuff!
You have just saved Hollywood.
Shem: Interesting idea; is the state of the art up to that yet? I think there's more to what they guy did than the sound of his voice -- there's also the inflection, what he chose to emphasize, that made it "art." Might not be amenable to automation. I guess a director or actor could make these choices, though.

They turned Hayden Christensen's voice into James Earl Jones' in Revenge of the Sith. I can't see why they couldn't do it again with announcer guy. And getting the cadence right shouldn't be too difficult for a trained actor.

I suspect the market will respond with a new paradigm in movie trailer voice-overs.

Re: IN A WORLD … where movie-trailer-voice guy has died
Honestly, I think it's about time for a new cinematic cliché, anyway. That guy -- although I must concur that he had a good, dramatic voice -- was one of the reasons I never saw 99% of Hollywood movies, because an awful lot of the previews he would do were for movies that just looked terrible.
On the other hand, now that he's gone, how else am I going to know what to avoid seeing?
I guess I'll have to rely on other cues now (Will Smith, Tom Cruise, Keanu Reeves, et al...).

I noticed that a few years ago they started having other people do these things.
There are also others:
And this is my favorite voiceover moment, even though I haven't and will never see the movie:
