OMG you *have* to see The Art of Negative Thinking. It's totally hilarious! Uproariously funny dark comedy.
Also, I'd recommend Blind if you don't mind romance movies. It's a fairytale-like love story and it's so beautiful to watch visually.
Those were two of my favorite movies at the Cleveland International Film Festival this year.
The Substitute was a big hit with the audiences, too, but I thought it was kind of silly. It's a sci-fi about a substitute teacher who is an alien.
I would also go see My Name is Bruce but only because Bruce Campbell is in it and I'm a fan of his.
Other than that I'd recommend seeing things that look interesting to you that you that won't be shown at theaters at a later date. Some film festival films don't get separate theater releases, so it's important to remember that when you're tempted to see the latest film by a well-known, popular director in lieu of a lesser-known director. Sometimes the film festival will be the only opportunity you have to see a particular film or director. You can usually check IMDB to see if any films are planning nearby theater releases in the future.

Thanks, smacky. As it turned out, I was unable to go to The Art of Negative Thinking, although I put it on my list. My Name is Bruce was absolutely fucking hilarious. A must-see if you're a fan.
