I'm a boy! (according to my surf history)

Mo's picture

This tool uses your browsing history to figure out if you're male or female. It guesses based on the m/f ratio of people that go to the website. I left some of the interesting ones in there as well (no surprise, deadspin.com is over 2:1 male)

Quote:
Likelihood of you being FEMALE is 0%
Likelihood of you being MALE is 100%

njtransit.com 0.83
medco.com 0.85
mta.info 0.87
salliemae.com 0.63 (???)
wsj.com 1.67
washingtonpost.com 1.15
nytimes.com 1.13
cnn.com 1.35
youtube.com 1

Apparently, real men read the WSJ. Youtube was the only gender neutral site on the list. I still don't get why paying off my student loans is something more often done by females than males.

That's funny. I was going to say that because the news sites seem to be weighted towards men, that most of us would end up looking maler than expected.

The financials skew female. Who knew? Because the women pay the bills? So why does PayPal tip to the testosterone? Porn? I wonder where eBay lands.

Sallie Mae is a head scratcher. What is that suppose to indicate? Three times as many women take out student loans? Three times as many women pay them back?

I would guess that eBay skews female. Actually the data only shows that 50% more women pay their student loans. 3 times as many would be 0.33. The most "male" site I had was pricewatch.com, which was 2.7 ish

Where the hell did the site designer get the information about the gender ratio of the visitors, is what I want to know.

EDIT: Ah, I see, it's this Quantcast thing. I'm still highly suspicious of their data, though.

OK, and it says

Quote:
Likelihood of you being FEMALE is 48%
Likelihood of you being MALE is 52%

jezebel.com and rotten.com skew the same way?! Like I said, color me suspicious.

My report at work came up as a girl (77%). At home, 87% male. Unfortunately, I did recently erase my browsing history though.
