Seriously, though, the land becoming more and more elemental-y in each direction as you get farther out IS cool.

Never actually played it, but knew some folks who wrote for it. Even then, I thought the Charms system was a little heavy, mechanically, but I also liked the setting.
My personal wrinkle on the setting was to discard it as the time-before-time of the oWoD and say it was the time-before-time of the Aeon setting. The time-travel (or maybe other-dimension?) opportunities would be a hoot for Adventure! and Aberrant and maybe even Aeon (aka Trinity).
