Guitar Hero

I just discovered it over the holidays!

Then tonight I got my ass kicked in the first round of a tournament at our sports bar!

It's the best game ever!

Who else plays?

Re: Guitar Hero

A couple of my friends have it and I played both it and Rock Band at their house on separate occasions. I really impressed everyone by playing Megadeth's "Hangar 18", which is on the "difficult level" really well on my first try, but that's only 'cause I already knew how all the solos in that song go.

When I played Rock Band I was drums, and I was (and always will be) terrible with the kick drum.

Re: Guitar Hero

Hell, I'm impressed. Do you actually play the guitar? I know (or knew) most of the rhythm parts to H18, but never the solos, which are pretty amazing, especially the trading back and forth at the end.

Just two nights ago, I did the singing for RockBand, I did okay considering I was on Easy mode, but Jesus I didn't realize how complicated the singing was for a lotta old songs was...
IMAO, I kicked ass on The Hand that Feeds :)

No, I took about a year of lessons at age 18 that I predictably blew off. Maybe I wasn't clear: I don't actually know how to play the solos, I just know how all of their rhythms go for the most part, which is why my score was high. Guitar Hero doesn't actually require any musicality, of course...it is merely an exercise in rhythm coordination and following directions.

Re: Guitar Hero

It is a lot more like playing Simon than playing an actual instrument.

Yeah, try the Metallica tracks on average, nevermind hard. Lars has double bass pedals - you don't. I can't even handle easy songs on drums. I think I like singing the best, though everyone else might disagree.

It's funny, too, there's that karaoke thing where it is frequently fun to sing songs you don't like because the way they are sung is just fun. In Rock Band, that CCR song "Favorite Son" is like that for me. Perhaps I have an inner redneck after all ...

Re: Guitar Hero

My daughter loves to do the singing in Rock Band which leaves me free to do the guitar bit. It is a lot of fun, although I kind of suck so far.

The drums are very difficult. Still fun though.
